If the person believe in god he/she can go to temple or they can even simply pray in home. They can relax by just thinking that god is with us and he will hear everything what ever the problem is
They can learn good books which will create more confidence and peacefulness in mind.
Empty mind is devils home. You can relax by freeing yourself from everything for some moment but not always because it will reflect your confidence, personality everything.

if you become aware of our thoughts without judging, the thought will fade away whether it is a positive or negative thought.what is important here is your thoughts are not your thoughts.it comes and goes as it is if you do not process it.we should also know what is pain and suffering.pain is physical but suffering is psychological.for example if your hand is cut there will be physical pain but after that you start thinking about what will happen to my future, will the society accept me all these unwanted thoughts disturb us that is suffering.so the only solution is accept the pain as it is without condemning or judging. then we will be free from all sorts of free tentions, anxiety etc.with regards to second part of your question yes empty mind gives mindfull of peace bcze your external world is reflection of your inner world.

Do u really need peace? You need happiness, but think once what would your life be if you had been happy, no hardship, so no challenges, so no using of your intellect. Do you think you will still be in a peace of mind? This will lead to depression and make you a numb skull! And if I consider that you get that peace, do you think you will be having a happy life with people around you not enjoying peace and happiness? So, always be happy with what you have and that will lead to peace of mind.If at the end of the day you can have a sound sleep for 6-8hours, then consider yourself lucky, because you have got the peace you have been looking for, and if you want that ultimate peace, then you get it only after death.

There is no way to keep your mind free of these things mention; However, having a true relationship with Jesus is a great way to start. He will take your burdens, your anxiety & fear, He will make your load lighter, He will listen when you call upon Him & His telephone lines are never busy. Only He & and He alone can fill your world joy & peace. God is love not hate, Satan is chaos, God is peace! This is the only true way to live. He will empty your mind just trust Him.

Your good observation is that thoughts free from fear, guilty, sorrow, etc can be peaceful.

Peace is always there. Thoughts are not the problem. But our identification with the thoughts is the problem.

The regular activities however successful leads to a hollow in terms of completeness and satisfaction.

The remedy of course is with spirituality (and also religion, for it gives or rather is supposed to give the spiritual practices).

Stress is an agitation in the mind, a hush of thoughts uncontrollable and not conducive to the natural state of the individual which sometimes is also of the nature of blank or a dull state of mind.

To avoid stress immediately (and temporarily) breathing techniques like pranayama would help. This would work out because the source of thoughts and breath is the same.

But a permanent solution to stress and vacuum in life can be achieved only when we expand to get identified with our true source.

In Hinduism, our saint Adi Sankara says that man throughout runs towards gaining happiness (Sukha Prapti) and removal of sorrow (Dukha Nivritti). But he rarely understands that his basic nature is Happiness (Ananda) only and all troubles, doubts, unhappiness is created by his thoughts.

We are happy when asleep. We say I slept happily. Now after waking up from sleep, we say I am sorrowful, stressed. So what is the reason for stress. We cannot say that I was not conscious when asleep. If so how do you feel that you slept happily. Modern science and western psychology may call it subconsciousness or through other terms. In our culture we say that it was our natural state, but we most of the times colour ourselves with thoughts and assume that thoughts are us.

Anyway the problems are because our identification with the thoughts. So the solution to the problems are always because of I and mine. The solution can be by understanding who is that I which is referred, whether it is our thoughts or whether it is our real nature. Thoughts cannot be us, because it keeps changing and flowing in front of us. Anything which could witness is apart from ourselves.

This is meditation in Indian terms, finding out "WHO AM I" also called as Gnyana Yoga, the path of knowledge. In this way we find that we are our true nature and sorrow is only because of identification with useless temporary thoughts chain parading before us.

Devotion is complete surrender as everything is yours (including me). Even in that case there is no stress because we see everything as a gift of the primordial cause (GOD), so there is nothing for me separately, there even I am His. This also leads to the same goal.

(One point: even if you go to an island, you cannot leave your mind. The problem is in our mind and not in the beings. It is in our perception. So let us expand our perception and live contended in the midst of the challenging surroundings.

How to attain peace inspite of challenging situatations is the entire teaching of our Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita, where a tense man of action not knowing what to do is guided by the wisdom words). There is a download the installation version of this book with English translation and commentary. If this can help you, you can have it.

The second and sixth chapter of this book especially has clear answers to such psychological questions and happiness (though all chapters speak the same message in different ways).

The Kingdom of Heaven is within us is the experience of all saints.

I label unwanted brain activity as "random thoughts from hell".
When I have a negative thought it seems to snowball into lots of them ,which causes fear...
ANyways, what helped me is GOD always having my back.
NEVER count on a person OTHER THAN YOURSELF to SOLVE or EVEN care enough to help you. People will always let you down because most of us are overloaded with our own cr*p.
To be able to count on YOURSELF~ admit the parts of your life that you can change, the negative activities or deeds. Apologize to those that you should, and then FORGIVE yourself. This is VERY helpful in releasing your baggage. Then dedicate ONE act a day to helping someone ELSE. This boosts your positive contact with others and feels GOOD.
