Then the American government would be the most dangerous government in the world.
Everyone knew the Soviets were corrupt. Everyone knew the Germans were out for themselves. But everyone insists on believing that the American government is controlled by the people.
To a certain extent, it is. But the extent of popular control of the government grows less the more government expands, and especially when all three branches are controlled by corrupt people. Not saying that's the case right now. But it's right around the corner if this country makes another wrong turn.

Both major parties are corrupt. You just have to vote for the interests that fall in line with what you believe to be the more important issues and hope that the candidate is up to the challenge of getting legislation passes that reflect those interests.
It would sure be great if we could find any candidate that wasn't willing to feather his or her own nest at the expense of the American people or pursue secret agendas while catering to the wealthiest percentage of the population. But then, it would be great if the majority of the American voting public weren't lazy and complacent and were willing to take ten minutes to get off the damn couch, go to the polls and push the button. It's our own fault our government is in the shape it's in. We all should make politics and the democratic process a priority in our lives. We either use it or we lose it, people.

Dishonesty, disinformation and lies is just the tip of the iceberg concerning them.
Our Texas gov kept his seat as governor when 60% of the texans voted against him. But it goes much deeper than that.
About all we can do is vote for the lesser of the two evils.

In my opinion there is corruption in both major parties. I have to vote for the ones with the best track records or the most convincing rhetoric... and I wish I had more to go on. It is always disheartening to vote for someone and find out it was all talk. But once in a while there's a real gem in politics. We could use one now.

Both parties are corrupt.
The point is that when you vote, you have to vote for who you think is the lesser of two evils (I only say two, because Ralph Nader does not count, not really).
Both parties are corrupt, but they still have the core values that you are either for or against, and you should vote for the the person that will contribute to the beliefs that you hold as a whole.

What if? You act as if this is a hypothetical question? Both major parties are corrupt. I wish I knew what to do and I hope that someone gives you a really good answer, because the two corrupt parties have created legislations that make it more difficult for third parties to gain financial support.

Get actively involved in government, and run for office.
People will only take but so much. That's how the labor and civil rights movements began.
The forces of profit/corruption always go too far. That's why the Republican party will be in decline for the next few decades. Americans get tired of being told to idolize billionaires and hate the guy who's just trying to get by and make an honest living for his family.

In my case, I believe that all U.S. Supreme Court Justices are involved in dishonesty, disinformation, and lies.
So therefore I don't vote. But that's just me.

You mentioned " major parties " . . . I would, and have in the past, voted for another party. In the past I've voted for Ross Perot. There are so many other parties . . . I'd vote for who I felt was the most qualified candidate from another political party.
