kind of hard to parachute out of a plane at 30000 feet traveling 700 miles an hour. Plus parachuting takes time and training. You can't get out of a plane while it's moving. you're only way is to survive a crash. If you crash on the ground you can walk away. If you crash on the water maybe you can float around on your seat until you are rescued.

Because if a plane goes into a nose dive, it will hit the ground or water in a couple seconds ... there would be no time to get the parachute on and jump out. They take a long time to get on to work properly.

I think the only reasont they have them, is if the plane makes one of those slow emergency landings on water. But if it falls from 30,000 feet into the Atlantic, I doubt anyone would survive.

In the case the plane goes down over water and you survive you would not drown. The plane couldn't depressurize in time to open the doors and get every body out . More often the planes that have accident ,have them at take off or landing.

No idea. Quite stupid really. If your plane hits the water, I seriously doubt you'll be alive to use the floatation device. I guess you could use them so they can find your floating, bloated body.
