Well, you could go for a bachelors in arts and sciences... its kind of well-rounded. Or you could seek out an actual school designed to teach you about film editing and stuff, but the competition in the movie, and music area... even for behind the scenes work, is fierce. You could go with the old standby of Business. Although, the classes aren't cake... but it beats Aeronautical Engineering... plus you have a lot of options for different jobs when you graduate. You could go out and start your own talent agency in CA or learn film editing on your own time and start your own company doing that. The sky is the limit, this is America after all.

I would check out the mass media and/or film programs offered at UCLA http://www.filmtv.ucla.edu/dof.cfm This sounds what you are looking for. There are similar programs at USC and NYU (I believe Columbia as well) that have national recognition (Michigan, Ann Arbor I believe has a strong program as well).

Good Luck!!!

If you need a public school, I think only UCLA and maybe CSUN can help you. There are a number of private universities you might consider - USC, Loyola Marymount, and Chapman all have film schools with production majors.
