Technically, you have only been pregnant for three weeks. According to the date of your last period, you were already two weeks pregnant when you conceived, which is impossible, but that's the calendar that doctors have been using for many years, so for consistency, they continue to use it.
So, you are five weeks pregnant, but the fetal age is 3 weeks.

When I had my first baby, many years ago, I had spotting, I was panic stricken, the doctor told me not to worry, and there was nothing they could do in the first three months to stop it, and if I miscarried then it meant the cells didnt form properly and my body would reject it, but that getting pregnant again would not be a problem, which was a hard thing to hear, however I went on to have a healthy girl, shes now 28, I know how worried you feel, and how scared and unhappy you must feel, but you can only let nature take its course, your body knows what to do, trust it, and all will turn out for the best in the end, good luck sweetie, I'm sure all will be well, just get plenty of rest and eat well, its all you can really do!

It's based on the date of your last period, not from the date you began ovulating. Normally, your due date is 280 days (40 weeks or about 10 months [yes, 10 months!]) from the first day of your last period. However, if your periods are not regular or are not 28 days in cycle, your due date may be different from the "280-day rule." Your health care provider may order an ultrasound to more accurately determine your due date

5 weeks even though the actually baby is only technically 3 weeks but it is counted at 5...for whatever reason calculation is done with two weeks of not being pregnant, but still counts. confusing i know.

You are 5 weeks. The Gestational age is 5 weeks. Go by that unless otherwise specified (my mayo clinic book on pregnancy sometimes refers to 'weeks since conception'.)
