There is an old saying that says, "Youth is wasted on the young".
I don't know if i agree with it or not, but i remember being young and thinking i was invincible! Even when faced with the dangers of the day. This was 30 years ago, and unfortunately there are much more serious dangers out there today...
I'm not saying it's OK for her to be careless, nor am I making excuses for her. Its just part of who she is at this age. Also, recent surveys have been saying that our youth does not take HIV as seriously as they need to. It's been around for over 20 years now, and we see people who are HIV positive living normal lives with many many years in front of them. This has an adverse affect on our youth, i think...

This is a universal belief among the young, I'm sure if you think back you will remember.
There isn't anything you can do, this is something that takes care of itself as a person ages and gains experience. Young women have been getting pregnant for generations, and still haven't learned to protect themselves, what make you think disease is any more of a threat?
For that matter, how many reading this, smoke, drink too much, do drugs, work 16hours a day, don't get their annual cancer screenings, eat spicy greasy foods and went to a fast food restaurant for dinner? We are a self destructive species, and no one believes its going to happen to them until it does.

because the are still sooooooooooooooooooooo very terrified of the stigmatism that goes along with HIV/AIDS and that nobody will want to have anything to do with them. They think that HIV/AIDS is for gays and junkies only and that is sad, it is not just for people that practice same gender sex or are junkies and you're right she is still in denial. That is why it is sooooooooo very important to get tested and to make sure that your potential partner gets tested too and if need be see the results yourself. Good luck working with this young woman and in helping her find both the psychological and medical help that she is going to be needing.

This young girl is most likely still in denial for sure, how do you expect her to behaviour???
This girl needs as much support as she can get, She does not need anyone like yourself trying to help her if you are judging her, stop being so shellfish this girl is going to go through some major changes, maybe you should distance yourself from this girl as it seems as you are going to be of know help to her.

You are so right...The old "It can't happen to me"
How many people have to go to jail or die,
before they will learn. I just lost my cousin
to a lack of understanding about seat belts.
His best friend that was driving, is in jail.
