When I checked on the norton security page it stated an
alert for TROJAN PEACOMM, but I can still use the internet
what should I do to get rid of the flashing red norton secu-
rity icon and what to do to prevent this from happening

Click the red Icon and run Norton cleanup to clean up your problem. Then click home and click live update. You need to make it a monthly habit at a minimum to keep your system clean. Norton is good software.
Trojans and worms are the STD's of the internet. If you peek at the nude stuff (not accusing you of anything) you are at greater risk, so clean more often, better yet dump history daily.
