There's an open ended question........define chemicals? Are you talking about manmade chemicals? We have been making chemicals from ancient times to help keep us clean, grow food, make a healthy drinkable liquid, prepare weapons for hunting, make clothing, medicine, for art and entertainment, etc.

Today it would be nearly impossible to live without coming in contact with some type of man made chemical. Unless you are running around naked, eating fruits and nuts, I dare say you are surrounded by man made chemcials. Your 100% cotton sheets on your bed were washed in chemcials, your soaps and detergents, toothpaste are chemcials, your clothing may come from manmade chemcials, your foods may have chemcial preservatives to keep them from spoiling and killing you, the water you drink may have chemicals in them......and on and on.

Manmade chemicals are not totally evil, but I do admit, we encounter far too many in our lives. then again, It is through chemcials that so many people can be fed on fewer agricultural lands.

You really need to be more specific to get a good answer to your question.
