Whatever happened to tenets like accountability, excellence, achievement, personal responsibility, demanding a lot out of yourself, not making excuses for failure, etc. etc. etc. Seems to me like nowadays people who stand for the virtues I listed above are scorned as "right-wing" freaks. What happened to this country? Why don't "the wrong kinds of minorities" see that left wing groups are just pandering to them for their votes etc - and that they don't really give a damn about them? Incidentally, I'm from a minority group, Asian. The way most of us (Asian-Americans) were raised was according to the virtues above, like achievement, etc. etc. What do you think?

You seem pretty smart!

I think most of the "sheep" in the liberal parties actually believe they are right and that the policies they favor are helpful and compassionate and will make poor people's lives better. They are not educated or knowledgeable enough about how the world works and do not care about hard work and accountability- those are scary words for many.

I think the people in power in the Democratic party just pander to voters by saying what they want to hear. They have succeeded in keeping African-Americans downtrodden and still voting mostly democratic for nearly 100 years, so it works, sadly.

I think you have no idea what "liberals" really stand for, and that you have no idea what "conservatives" really stand for.

Accountability: republican congressmen harasses and molests teenage pages, republican speaker of the house knows about it for 2 years, does nothing. Accountability?

Excellence: Bush runs up the biggest annual deficits and national debts in US history (annual INTEREST payment on the debt is $406 billion). US standing worldwide in education has fallen 35% since he's been in office. Excellence?

Personal responsibility: Bush lies to us about his reasons for war in Iraq. Claims "mission accomplished," and now nearly 3 years later over 3000 US soliders are dead, no WMDs, no mission accomplished, things worse than ever. But it's not his fault...personal responsibility?

I have news for you dear -- liberals stand for freedom for ALL (not just christian white guys), accountability, excellence, achievement, etc. Here's an example: my family couldn't afford to pay for my college, so I went into the military, saved my money, came back and went to college while working full time -- took 6 years doing that to get my BS, then I went on to get a Master's degree. Worked 15-hour days (at least) for 20 years, moving up in every company I worked at. Never made any excuses, studied and worked hard, earned my way with just a little help to a six-figure executive job.
Why do I tell you that? Liberals believe that everyone should have the opportunity to do the same. Liberals believe that a little investment of government money to help those who can't do it on their own will pay big rewards later with an educated, productive member of society. Conservatives would leave those who need just a little help in the gutter -- "too bad kid, can't afford college, it's 'market forces.'" Why is looking out for all members of our society a bad thing? Is your attitude, "screw 'em"?
Oh, and I'm married to an Asian (not that they're all the same or have the same values -- nice stereotyping there). I raise my kids to be honest, accountable, to do their best in everything they do, to have personal responsibility...and to respect everyone, help others less fortunate than them, never use stereotypes, and be liberal in thought and action. Oops, yet another one of your stereotypes was wrong...you should work on that.

i think that unfortunately some liberals may come off as being that way, but in actuallity a lot of us aren't. yes, some left wing people are really just people sticking up for minorities for their own gain, but saying that that's how all of us are... that's almost as bad as us left wingers "scorning" all right wingers as freaks. a little bit hypocritical and a little bit of stereotyping huh? we're not all like that and neither are right wing people. shees.

No. And perhaps if there is any humanity within you, you will cease to categorize, classify and rank and rate people as "winners" and "losers". And yours is a purely subjective classification system. Granted that all people are not created equal, so how can you possibly expect and demand that everyone has the same intellectual capacity to grasp abstract notions?

I don't know. I own my own business, I'm an artist and I am successful. And, get this, I'm a liberal. OMG can you believe it? The only pandering that is going on is the right wing propaganda bullcrap that is being slung around that says liberals are lazy and unaccountable. and gullible people that believe them. My god, grow up already.
