Both.

The beginning of the movie shows Kit and Dottie playing in a softball game, where ball is pitched underhanded.

Later, a participant in the league tryouts is chastised for pitching underhanded.

IIRC, all the rest is overhanded.

As for throwing harder overhanded or underhanded, I wonder how fast Jenny Finch or Cat Osterman could chuck a baseball underhanded? Compared to say their underhand speed? Not say, to Nolan Ryan's overhand speed, because that isn't really a fair comparison.

In baseball they usually pitch overhand, but there are some guys who pitch sidearm or submarine, or underhand in a sense.

"as hard or harder underhand" did you get hit with a stupid stick. you can't throw harder underhand...quit watching so much softball...the best softball pitchers can bring it at maybe 70 mph, baseball try 102...nice job Einstein.

You can throw as hard, or harder, underhand as you can overhand..

But regardless, it was baseball.. so overhand.

They were playing baseball, not softball. Overhand.

Rent the movie and watch it.
