It's generally against it.

Of course Australians are against terrorism, the US and Britain arent the only people who have been attacked. in 2002 a bombing in bali (a popular holiday destination for australians in indonesia) killed 88 australians and approx 220 people and a few years ago our embassy in indonesia was attacked by a car bomb killing a couple of people.

the only difference i can determine in australia is that we are a very multicultural country with many muslims especially in the western suburbs of sydney and areas like coburg and brunswick in Melbourne. since terror has become a big issue racism has become more common, especially violent incidents like attacks on taxi drivers. A big issue is including young muslim people in our society so that they do not feel angry and turn to crime or worse, like what the london train bombers turned too. The whole Cronulla incident last year started when two lebanese men attacked a lifegaurd, promting and angry response.

Your view depends on where you stand.

Most Australians are against anything which will hurt them or their interests.
Some politicians may be using the issue for some perceived advantage to themselves.
Some individuals are no doubt working away secretly to hurt others.

One day we may think of terrorism as we now do of communism. A really silly idea. By then we will have a new ism to worry about. I wonder what it will be.
