Bluetooth is a radio standard and communications protocol primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range (power class dependent: 1 metre, 10 metres, 100 metres) based around low-cost transceiver microchips in each device.

Bluetooth lets these devices communicate with each other when they are in range. The devices use a radio communications system, so they do not have to be in line of sight of each other, and can even be in other rooms, so long as the received transmission is powerful enough.

In other words bluetooth is the earpiece on your ear, that lets you listen and talk on your phone without the need to hold the phone to your ear. Of course your phone has to be in a certain radius from you. Bluetooth has nothing to do with downloading of tunes.

You have two options. You can go on the internet on your phone to download ringtones. You need the phone screen to do this to see what you wish to download.

You can use the computer to download ringtones. Then when you hotsynch your phone and computer, the computer will download to the cell phone (bluetooth has nothing to do with this.)

You would have to go to your phone manual to download the hotsynch program for your phone. You did not state what you had for a phone if both of yours are the same or different.. If you both have the same phone you could hotsynch with his.
