I broke up with my boyfriend of two years on the night of Prom (it was about four hours before Prom). I ended up going alone (b/c I was the coordinator, so I had to go) and was miserable the entire night, having everyone ask "what happened?", "where is he?", etc. PLUS, I had to take pictures alone!!!! It really sucked, but my friends were amazing and helped me get over it.
We're not really friends, but we are still in touch. (it was 10 years ago)

After a young girl has finished her education, it is the custom where I live for a Father to ask his daughter's boyfriend ""What is your intention towards my daughter"" which actually means ""Are you going to marry her?""
Well, my father asked my boy friend one night this famous question. He left to go home and seek his mother's approval and he never returned.
I didn't worry about his departure, I guess I was too young to understand or be married at the time.
