When my son was born, I decided against it. In a culture where daily bathing or showering is the norm, it's not necessary. I didn't like the fact that they did it to babies without anesthesia. My thought was if he needs it later for medical reasons, or because he wants it done, at least he will be treated humanely, by having anesthesia.

He's now 17 and says it doesn't bother him.

No, there is no medical or other reason to do the mutilation. Especially not to infants or young boys. It is an archaic, tribal act that does not belong in modern society.
