Here's a brief outline of a very effective diet. I lost 15 lbs in 10 days. Note: I am a guy so it can be easier for me.

Chicken, fish, veal, turkey, and egg whites. As much as you like. At least three servings daily.

Green vegetables(excluding peas and green beans) as much possible. At least three servings daily.

Three servings of fruit daily. Apples, oranges, grapefruit, cantelope, and strawberries. None two hours before bedtime.

Eight 8oz glasses of water daily.

Note: use a calorie free butter substitute for all cooking. use fat free dressing on the side for any salads. avoid any juices or alcoholic beverages. The outline above covers everything you eat and drink on this diet. Also some will feel faint or experience headaches due to withdrawal from carbohydrates. In that case take an aspirin and drink no more than 4oz of orange juice in one day.

Additional legal note: Consult a physician before following this or any diet.

Aside from watching your carbs, increase your intake of fibers and if she can run, then she should, but to speed up results and make it more attainable, I highly recommend interval training. The method and pace would be a function of ability and whether she can run outside of has access to a treadmill. A 20 minute interval workout three times in a week will give her immediate results. For an actual program, I would need to know more, but as an example, over the course of a twenty minute run, I would suggest 4-5 minute cycles where you increase speed on a minute to minute basis. If outdoors, I would increase pace from a slow jog to a sprint for periods of between 15-45 seconds with breaks of between 1 and 2 minutes in between. Obviously this is all speculative as I don't know the shape that your girlfriend is in, but happy to supply more information if you need it. For your information, I have run a few marathons and a triathlon and now just try to stay in good shape. Good luck to her!

Tell her to eat lightly- not too many calories or fat. Eat veggies and nuts and other good things to fill her up. Chewing gum is a good hungr stopper, and if she has a craving, tell her to drink water and wait 15 minutes- the craving will be gone. Do not skip breakfast, because then you will gain weight. Granola bars or fast food salads can be extremely fattening sometimes- make your own salad, and eat granola bars that say good content on the nutrients facts. Exercise 30 minutes, 3 times a week, drink water, and walking 12,000 steps or more may help you lose that weight. Tell her to be motivated- she can do it. Good luck!!!
