Roughnecks are not entitled to any pre-set break times. (They work on drilling rigs) and the rig can't stop working for anything including meals and prayer. I lived at a drilling rig for 5 1/2 years and have seen shifts where they have a lot of free time, like when they're waiting on cement, and seen days when they didn't get a minute to spare. I'm not sure if your husband has to do his prayers at a set time, if so, roughnecking is not for him. If he is flexible in his time and the prayers don't take too long, he might be able to find the time to do it.
Drilling is a multi-million dollar operation, so if they are busy or have a problem with the rig, perhaps weather, they cannot stop for anything and they need every crew member on their toes. Safety is a factor too. Shifts are usually 12 hrs long, so if he is able to time it around that, there shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know what a roughneck is, but all the Muslims I know (I assume he's Muslim) are allowed to take a break to pray during school and work (academia, office settings). Some even keep rugs and shawls at work to pray with. I think it may be a law even, to allow someone to practice religion. Not sure about that.

If he works an eight hour day he should get two 15 minute breaks and at least a half hour for lunch. He should be able to use those for his three daily prayers. They don't have to give them at certain times.
