Yes. I've never understood what the hell the big deal is. I'm straight but I have alot of gay friends. Over the years I've gotten into some heated verbal fights with people who have insulted my gay friends or who have said bad things about gay people. I've never been able to figure out why some people have such a problem with gay people. How does it affect their lives? Are they self-loathing closet queens who can't deal with being gay themselves so they have to lash out at other gay people?

Take a look at some of the postings from the religious fanatics, that will answer your question.
Some people seek us out to give us shi*.
You don't see us going to the religion & spirituality section and harassing people there do you?, no.
And as far as people going overboard with their persoanlity traits take a look at the super macho guys or the rediculously macho guys or jocks or any number of accentuated characteristics people are inclined to project.
While it may drive ua a little up the wall sometimes there is a lot of comedy derived from this extreme diversity and it certainly does keep things interesting.
Giving people shi* in a playful way is one thing but being hateful is quite another.
We might be overly sensative at times but you try being systematicly discriminated against in society, government and religion and see how steadily you maintain a good attitude.
I think we do a remarkable job on that count.

because there's still a lot of completely ignorant bigots, whether they were raised by bigots, or just poorly educated. instead of believing in the truth, learning facts and getting to know those that are different than they are (whether they are gay, or a different race, religion or culture), they believe in lies, assumptions and generalizing stereotypes. why? because only b.s. backs up their hatred, the truth doesn't. No one "deserves it" as you say. sure, there are people of all walks of life that might be a little over the top, but why do they "deserve it?" just because they're a bit eccentric or eclectic? diversity is what makes this world interesting, and unless and until everyone realizes we are all human beings and God created and loves us all, then the ignorant bigots will just continue their abuse.

It's as simple as the fact that I dont bother other people and I would prefer not to be bothered... but there are a lot of people out there who will either overtly harass me if they know i'm gay or throw subtle digs my way if they don't think they can get away with it.

Not most of the them ALL OF THE TIME. You may not agree but I have gay friends and I have yet to see somebody say I will take one the legal system for free because you have suffered an injustice.

So here's the question: at what point does someone DESERVE systematic discrimination? At what point does someone DESERVE to get tied to a fence and left to die, or dragged behind a truck, or attacked with baseball bats? Do tell me what people have done to deserve these things.
