My Mother said it to me....and I quote.

"Wake UP! Don't be so naive. YOU ARE ALMOST 30 years old. It's time to quit acting like a kid and get a life, I love you but Grow up!!!!"

Sounds harsh, but it was the reality check I needed. So I did just what she said and got a life.
Basically I got a great new job and a fiance who I love more than anything. I probably still be a dorky loser if I never got that speech from her.
Thanks MOM!!!!!
From what I can see, I think a lot of other people need this same advice.
Sorry I know this probably wasn't what you were looking for, but it's what I thought of first.

The 3 Laws of Thermodynamics

1) You can't win in this game
2) You can't break even in this game
3) You can't quit this game

or---------

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master;
If you can think -- and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings -- nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run --
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And -- which is more -- you will be someone.

"Those who can't hear the music think the dancers are insane."

It reminds me that even though others can't see things like I do that doesn't make me wrong, stupid or foolish. And that it's ok to dance to music no one else can hear.

Also

My mother used to say to me, "Elwood" - she always called me Elwood - "Elwood, in this world you must be oh-so clever, or oh-so pleasant." For years I was clever. I'd recommend pleasant - and you may quote me."Jimmy Stewart, Harvey (1950)

Maybe not life saving, but perhaps it'll save your sanity or show you that you're not really crazy after all.
