Yes they can, and when they do, they look fabulous. Male romanti-goths wear Edwardian and Victorian inspired clothing, and usually look very dapper. Some excellent makers of such clothing are Kambriel (http://www.kambriel.com/catalogue.html), The Dark Angel (http://www.thedarkangel.co.uk/onlinestore.php), Eternal Love (http://www.eternallove.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=browse&id=40650&pageid=44), Drac-In-A-Box (http://www.dracinabox.com/home.htm), and Jeannie Nitro (http://www.jeannienitro.com/BoneChurch3.htm).

While guys CAN dress romantigoth (ruffley shirts, frock coats), it really takes a certain kind of guy to pull that off without just looking silly. Preceed with caution! To avoid any possible "gay pirate" fashion statements, try going with Victorian men's clothing rather than Renaissance era.
When in doubt, take an honest female friend shopping with you.

From what I understand: all black, boots in black, and somewhat make up. To properly it off, you want a wallet chain (more suitable the more suitable) and reckoning on how self concious you're, more suitable or a lot less metallic earrings...eg, if your self esteem is truly low, get more suitable, if it is no longer that low, bypass mild on the make up & upload-ons. a lot of black eyeliner also seems edgy and sends the message to stay away. yet undergo in concepts, goth isn't a way fashion, that is a way of existence. you don't need to look like a poser, so it is kinda all or no longer something. i have self belief your discomfort you recognize, i'm kinda/sorta goth myself, I placed on rather some black and black eyeliner, yet i do not placed on chains or pay interest to metallic, that would purely be pushing it. i'm very depressed and that i see myself in you. existence purely isn't honest, I ought to bypass goth myself.
