Definitely, and it's not fair unless a survey is made and 75% of Malaysians are found to be really lazy(or malas as in Malay). Generalisations for a race or a whole nation of people are very inaccurate and therefore unfair.

Because the term is offensive and deragatory. I believe it was used for the Japanese, even Japanese-Americans during World War II.

I heard it had negative connotatiions, such as in pre-war times. It's associated with hatred of Japanese people.

and I guess it's just another racially unnacceptable word

Because it became understood to be a racial slur (as offensive as the terms for persons of African ethnicity and Jewish faith).
