Peter Appleyard is a famous jazz vibraphonist as is Lionel Hampton.
The vibraphone, sometimes called the vibraharp or simply the vibes, is a musical instrument in the percussion family.

It is similar in appearance to the xylophone, although the vibraphone uses metal bars instead of the wooden bars on the xylophone.

I haven't heard bells or xylophones used in jazz music. Those two instruments tend to be too harsh for smooth mellow jazz. On the other hand I've seen/heard the marimba and vibraphone used in jazz bands in the past. I hope this information helped. I wasn't quite sure what you meant by "where". Sorry.

Yes. the great xylophone player Bobby Hutcherson played on a lot of Blue Note albums back in the hay day (1950-1960's). One of my favorite albums is Joe Henderson's Mod For Joe album. Hutcherson is great on that album. Also, he is in a more avaunt-guarde setting on Eric Dolphy's album Out to Lunch.

He led his own band and put out great albums that really progressed jazz as a creative movement. I suggest his albums Dialogue and Oblique. There from the mid 1960's, when jazz was loosing it's be-bop (Charlie Parker) style. The musicians were very creative around this time. Bobby Hutcherson was a main player in this creative

PS-Victor Feldman is another great vibe player. He also played piano. He's most known for being in Connonball Adderley's band.
