you have to pretend that x=0 to find the y intercept, the pretend that y=0 to find the x intercept. so, if x=0(remember, we're pretending) Y=0+5, therefore Y=5
Y intercept is 5
now, pretend Y=0
-2x+5=0
5=2x
x=2.5
X intercept is 2.5

To find the y-intercept, set x = 0:
y(0) = 5
To find the x-intercept, set y = 0
0 = -2x + 5
2x = 5
x(0) = 5/2

x- and y-intercept of y = -2x + 5
x-intercept: y=0 => 0 = -2x +5,
-2x = -5
x= 5/2.

y-intercept: x=0 => y=5 .
