This is all my French teacher gave us to work with:

What very famous French person (or it might have been just someone in France not nessisarily French) died recently?

PLEASE HELP!
Thanks

Yesterday, "L'abbé Pierre" died.
This man have been the most popular person in France for more than 60 years.
He dedicated his whole life to the poor. He was born in a rich family but decided to help the poor very early and became very famous in 1954, when he asked the French on the radio to help poor people living in the streets who were dying because of the cold.
French people were very impressed by his call on the radio and started sending old clothes. It was the beginning of a movement called "Emmaüs" (don't know if you have it in the US), a worldwide society which collects old clothes and furniture, then fix them and sell them. The money goes to the poor who live in the Emmaüs centers and work there.
L'abbé Pierre never stopped his "fight against poverty", asking the government again and again to help the poor to have at least a place to sleep.
He died aged 94 and all French people are very sad about it.

I'm not sure of his name but one of the oldest living World War I veterans just died at the age of 115. I think it made the US papers for the fact that he was one of the oldest people in the world. But in France they take World War I very seriously and are planning a nationwide celebration.

what do you mean by recent? the last truly important frenchman i knew died ages ago. his name was claude monet. come to think of it....i can't think of anyone whose died recently that even compares. i don't know where you live, but check out a monet canvas in person. he rocked! maybe your teacher doesn't want you to google or de-blog the info. he or she would probably be shocked into an A for an original answer. good luck!

There are lots of reasons for having pain, often times the pain relieving tablets, for one. I would live in the moment, learn relaxation techniques and forget medicos and their dire predictions. Miracles happen, if you are open to them. I wish you all the very best.
