To make a long story short, I'm 24, and just about all of my working life I have been a successful bill collector, making pretty decent money (about $20 an hour). However I have decided to leave the field for good, because I'm tired of such a negative position, sueing people, taking their money, and just being hated by everyone you talk to all day long.

I've found that its also very hard to find a decent job anywhere when the resume pretty much has said bill collector for the past 7 years.

I need at least $15 an hour starting just to break even on the bills. I'd consider almost any field at all, the most important thing I look for is that it has a somewhat regular schedule without alot of overtime, has a good environment that isn't high stress or backbreaking, and is a job I can make a comfortable living.

Does anyone know of any specific companies, or jobs that I should look into. I live in the seattle area in case anyone local is reading this.

Construction maybe? It is hard work but it usually pays well.

You could try to do an apprenticeship but you will have to dirty your hands and work. You will start out well above your current salary and advance quite a bit every 6 months you will get a hefty raise, when you are finished in 5 years you will receive about $65+ per hour. High school diploma and hard work is the only requirement. I am glad to see you will stop being the bad guy and go out and become respected.

Try a civil service job - with the county, city or state. Depending on the state, but $15 is not out of the question. The benefits and chance to advance is good. Also there is good retirement, better than the private sector. You take a test to see what you qualify for and they cdntact you about jobs.

Sorry but any job paying well requires plenty of hours. Plumbers and Electricians earn decent salaries but put in very long days. On call in evening for emergencies.

I started my own business when I was in school through BeautiControl. The Spa parties are really fun and relaxing and you really get out of it what you put into it. You decide your own schedule, how much or little you work, you have a lot of flexibility. Plus you also determine how much you can make and how much you can advance.

Let me know if you are interested.
