One on one males are competitive, it's the nature of the beast. If you are angry enough to want to hit someone then why would you want to be in their presence? I think that any time you allow someone to cause that kind of anger, you are giving that person a command and control over your emotions. To hit someone just because you are angry is not a good thing, but if you are in a situation where you have no choice, such as being attacked by another, then jump and get it. If you are not in that situation then get away from whom ever is hacking you off.. life is too short to let one person make you unhappy. If you are looking for some deep philosophical answer to you question, I doubt you will get it. If you are looking for a reason to fight or to bust someone, then all you need is a physcial reason. If you find one, I hope it is a good one, otherwise, you may have a problem with what occurs after you slug someone.

I'm a female, and therefore probably not the demographic you want to answer, but here are the circumstances in which I think you have the right to hit another man square in the jaw:

1. He has propositioned, touched inappropriately, or made a lewd comment to your girlfriend/wife. The acceptability of hitting a man in these circumstances increases exponentially with the amount of alcohal involved.

2. He's trying to mug you and he's clearly not armed. If he is armed, it is still acceptable to hit him if you know you can take him.

3. He's taken a swing at you already. This needs no explanation.

4. He's undermining your work performance or trying to steal your business. The acceptability of hitting him in these circumstances also increases with the amount of alcohal involved. After you've had four or more drinks, it's acceptable to hit him twice.

5. If you've had more than eight (8) drinks, you may hit them under any circumstances and claim to not remember it the next day.

no, in the long run you will only get into trouble if you use your fists on antoher person. it always comes back to you in another form. also you should exercise some control over your emotions even if you are in the right.
police records do not look good on your resume.

Depends how much they piss you off. If its really bad, yea. Id smack that mother f***er down and make him eat his own s***. If its not that bad, id still smack that mother f***er, but not as bad.

circumstances :
1) the mother f***er will rat on you (if he does, kick his *** more)
2) you might feel bad
3) you might feel better (rarely)
4) the mother f***er doesn't rat on you (hopefully)
5) you will feel good for a while =]

*Yes, this is from a male perspective*

if you are willing to accept the consequences, whether it is assault charges, damage to property, paying the person's medical expenses, losing your reputation, getting hurt, etc.
courts have defined some things to be "fighting words" ie a provocation. but honestly the person who allows themselves to be provoked is weak. imho.

From my perspective, violence will never solve anything. it just gives you the temporary sense of satisfaction but the underlying conflict still remains.
