System Of A Down: metal or not?

Not a judgement of their music (which is quite good) but it's not really metal.

Yeah, many classify System of a Down as "Nu Metal," which you have a good description of. I consider them more of an "Alternative Metal" kind of thing. It annoys me when people say that Nu Metal is not metal. Metal has characteristics of heavy guitars, often with heavy power chords. Nu Metal IS metal. I don't like Nu Metal at all though. I do like System of a Down though. But like I said, I don't really consider them Nu Metal that much. They are more Alternative-ish to me.

I think they're metal. If people considered Def Leppard as being metal at one time, I think you can say System of a Down is metal. Evereybody has their own interpretation of what metal is. Some people hear one power chord and think a band is metal. I've seen System in concert and they put on a good show. To me, they are alot more metal than what some of these clowns think is metal.

System of a Down is the greatest band ever.Their style of music is it's own genre. It's indescribable.
