Yes, I am from Arkansas, near Fort Smith. But that's as much as I'll disclose.
The answer to your question is this: Hope. We keep trying to hold out "hope," that others will change, accept us, love us for who we are, that they can change, etc. They will not, of course. No more than we can. Its not stupid to be hopeful, maybe unrealistic, but not stupid.
