Today while i was in school I had gotten a call during a break. Im in high school, and know that cell phones are not meant to be on. But of course im like any teenager with a phone, and leave it on. I will only text with my phone at times when I can, never sit there and make calls. But today I got a call and I it was my brother calling to tell me that my dad had gotten in a accident. Now this is horrible. My mom wasnt down here and I was stuck in school. Before I could even get all the information a teacher had walked up and saw me on my phone and made me hang up and give it to him. Being in shock this didn't help, cause now I was pissed. I tryed explaning to him the situation, but he still took it and didn't even take time to listen to me. Thanks to him I get my cell phone tooken away and introuble for all of this ona bad day already. One thing that puzzles me is that cell phones are allowed incase of emergency what was that? Im not sure what a emergency i guess... What do you feel?

Me personally, I wouldn't have gave him the phone. But when i was in high school, the teachers were the same way. It is ridiculous. As long as the phone is not disturbing classes, than there shouldn't be any problem, when you use it during a break. schools try to control everything about your personal life.

People have gotten along just fine in school without cell phones and you should be able to also. Sorry about your Dad and i hope he's okay, but rules are rules. You bro could have called the school and said there was an emergency. I side with the school.
Everyone has a reason to break a rule, but once they do, they need to pay the piper.

Yeah I keep my phone on too for emergencies. My teachers are pretty understanding about that kind of stuff and would let me go in the hall if I needed to call someone or take a call. That is really stupid that you got in trouble for that. Doesn't sound like a good teacher, maybe you should talk to the teacher and apologize for having your phone out and explain the situation again when he is listening. Couldn't hurt.

Like the first person, rules are rules. The teacher should of still listened to you though! what if something REALLY bad happened, and your dad had died?? Would your teacher still take your phone away?? That is a little wrong, and a bit too strict. The teacher needs to hear what his students have to say, not avoid them. Talk to him about this, and see why he did it.

Explain things truthfully and honestly to all concerned. Perhaps the teacher will get in trouble or not. Perhaps you will or not. I am sure teachers get the emergency crap pulled on them all the time. All things will be negociated and you can gert your phone back unless you were pulling some crap.

teachers got to stick to the rules but the teacher should have listened to you thoroughly.

i would talk to the guidance counselor about it and i hope that everything turned out ok with your dad.

speedy recovery and best wishes.
