i am surprised that most of you didnt know what they were. although i guess that is also a good thing as they are not really out there anymore. they are a little 4 inch long plastic box in which a tropical fish and a live plant are put in without a heater. you clean it every few years as the plant and fish keep each other "clean" and "happy" some times there is a frog in the mix too. its not an aquarium as one person said. its far from it.

Aquababies use to be seen in shopping malls every christmas about 5 years ago. The pet shops in the malls would then have to deal with all the problems as the booths were long gone. Then someone got smart and complained to the mall managers. This stopped them from coming back. If you see a booth in a mall complain to the mall manager, this will stop them.

…And the fish is supposed to last HOW long in there?

It’s like keeping a see through cat carrier, with no airholes. So long as you feed it, and change the air in the cat carrier, the cat SHOULD last a few months…

The “goldfish have no memory and can’t feel pain” people have A LOT to answer for.

I don’t get it. If you wanted an Aquababy type set up, why not just get a plastic fish?

so what im getting from the official website is they expect fish that are used to being in schools live with only themselves and one other in a non heated, non airrated 1/4 gallon container? thats worse than betta bowls in my opinion. they should be outlawes, but its america where we strive on animal cruelty to earn money.

I'm not sure what aquababies are, but little torture tanks are a favorite pasttime of america. They only get outlawed in more advanced countries.

I web browsed "aquababies". I don't get it. It just looks like a fish tank to me? Lots of people have aquariums at home? Is there something I am overlooking, because I am opposed to animal cruelity but this just looks like a fish tank?
