I am running Windows XP SP2. The performance is very slow due to 128 KB ram should I spend the money to increase to 512KB?.

If using that computer for gaming, and/or graphics, upgrade to 512kb ram. It will boost your speed for graphics/gaming, along with helping to load large files fast.
Ex: If Microsoft Word takes 12 seconds to load right now, it will be 4X faster, since 128x4=512, therefore, 12/4 is 3, so it would load in 3 seconds.

Ex2: If a large game on your computer takes around 2 minutes to load (Think the Sims Complete edition...), It would load in 120 seconds. Take that divided by 4, you get 30 seconds, or half a minute. Also, 2 divided by 1/4 would work if you want to get technical.

In other words, once upgraded to 512kb ram, most programs will take 1/4th the time to load, also known as a quarter of the time to load.

Although, like all the earlier people, I do think you mean Mb (Mega-bytes)

Thanks for listening to my advice!

Definitely! Memory is cheap enough these days that even if it was a flop you wouldn't be out very much. I had an Inspiron 4000 I added memory to and it was an improvement. I gave it away and it still works great for the new owner

It is amazing you can get anything done. 512 of RAM up from 128 would be like a new computer. Well worth the investment.

I assume you mean MB, but yes. Definitely upgrade to at least 512.
