I need help with my opem H.W. I'm suposed to write a paragraph on what a poem is and I can't think of a conclusion. Here's what I have so far.

Poems can be either fiction or nonfiction. In order to make a poem, it would have to be more than 5 lines. Poetry is a collection of ideas, gathered on one piece of paper. In order for to make a poem, it should have some sort of rhythm to the poetic mechanism. An example of this would be a stanza

Poems don't have to be more than 5 lines. Haiku's are only three lines and I can't remember the poets name at the moment but her had several poems that were only two lines. i think they are called couplets, not sure though.

Poetry can rhyme or not depending on what the point is. If you want the poem to be happy and fun you would probably use rhymes or odd sentence breaks. If you'd want it to be more serious you could have a rhyme pattern or not, or like I said before odd sentence breaks. All in all I think _________ about poetry because________________.

I suggest writing from a completely different perspective. Instead of writing exactly what a poem consists of (btw, Haikus are poems and they're only 3 lines) write about what a poem really is. What it means to the writer, the reader. Write about the relaxation people can get from reading them, writing them. The imagination put in and taken out. You can still mention the concrete structure of a poem, but I believe you're teacher is looking for a little bit more. Good Luck.

lemme dissect your paragraph. poems can be fiction, nonfiction, OR an opionion, maybe even what some some people considor a fictional event but it really represents a nonfictional one. who said they have to be more than 5 lines? a poem is a collection of gathered ideas, yes, but it must "flow". maybe some thoing that would hel change your perspective is reasearch about 5 poems from aroung the world, or in different styles

It would probably be a good idea to make the first and last sentance state what a poem is, while expressing more detail in the body of the paragraph.

I agree with the top post. poems arent really about structure - they are about emotion and feeling.
