In computer science, a cache (pronounced /kæʃ/ or /kaʃ/[citation needed]) is a collection of data duplicating original values stored elsewhere or computed earlier, where the original data is expensive (usually in terms of access time) to fetch or compute relative to reading the cache. Once the data is stored in the cache, future use can be made by accessing the cached copy rather than re-fetching or recomputing the original data, so that the average access time is lower.

Your Internet browser stores a certain default of the web pages and other things you visit on the Internet. This takes up temporary memory (or cache). For instance, if you are using Internet Explorer, go up to the menu on your browser and find what is called "Internet Tools". Choose "Internet Options" and bring this menu up. Thanks to your question, mine was way too high at 1222. It should be something like 20 in order to maintain good fast browsing performance, unless you do not mind your browser memorizing all the places that you have visited and keeping this stored in memory every time you go on the Internet. If you visit certain sites frequently, this may help; otherwise, it's just taking up you cache!

It's a fancy term for "temporary storage" in the computer world. In other places like the CPU, L1 and L2 cache is the fastest storage area in memory. So in many cases, it's used to describe the "quickness" factor. Internet Explorer's cache is seen as a time-saver as opposed to having to download the entire page every time you go back.

Cache is a type of fast access memory. It is really fast but the amount of data it can store is very less. Normally cache is used to store the data which are very frequently refered by the system.

cache a term used in computers frequently is nothing but a storage area where data / instructions etc are stored temporarly so that the efficiency / speed of the performance of computer is improved. Cache is available in the computers and also in certain periphirals like printer, plotters scanners etc so that what ever data is derived ( in the case of scanners ) and data that has been forwarded by computers ( in the case of printers / plotters) is stored temporarly before the actual job of transcation from one place to another is fully completed.
