if they are big, spray them with laundry starch and watch them walk slower, and slower, and slower...

Pretty easy fix. Go to your local Home Depot or other hardware store, and tell them what kind of problem you are having. They will give you some safe poison to use indoors that should kill the spiders that are currently in your room. But, since the problem is recurring, they are coming in from the outside. What you'll want to do is spray a powerful outdoor pesticide all the way around your house. Specifically by doors and windows. That will stop them from coming in. Spiders like to hide in clutter. So you should pick up piles of clothes, or stacks of books and papers, as you might find one hiding in there. Also, spiders come in when there are other small bugs they can eat. Make sure that you don't have an ant or termite problem, as that may be what is attracting the spiders. Good luck!

Buy some sort of Raid that kills spiders or ants or roaches and spray the entire perimeter of the apartment, like along the edges of all the floors. Give a few extra spritzes around windows and doors. Try to do it right before you're going to be out for the day so it will dry and leave a window cracked. This will decrease the spiders, but not eliminate them altogether.
My next best piece of advice is the purchase a Swiffer...you know one of those wet cloth mopping tools. They are perfect spider killers. It helps you get spiders on ceilings, in corners, on walls...almost anywhere the Swiffer can reach and the flat surface will conform to any angle you need it to. I have killed dozens of spiders with mine.
Other than that all I can say is vacuum, dust and mop frequently to keep crumbs at a minimum, and spiders are less likely to migrate to areas where there's a lot of commotion. Good Luck!!

1st :Bomb the hell out of them suckers.... What do you mean you don't have time soldier? Buy the bomb prop it up on a couple of books or something and pull the trigger and go to work. You sound like a Democrat thats afraid to use the Bomb!! Bomb their asses ( LOL). If their are cracks in the wall seal them with silicon or some kind of crack filler after you bomb. Put plastic around the windows.
P.S. If you have a lot of plants get rid of a couple of them
FYI.. Next Fall before it gets cold. Go out side with a spreader.. and spread the all Bug killer granular stuff at the base of the house and around landscapes. even if you rent. I don't think the landlord will mind since your helping him out. Then Bomb. & seal your windows or any doors that you can with plastic (of course after it's safe to go back in). Plus this will help keep the room warmer during the winter. you'll see a great reduction in spiders. You may..may have to hit the corners etc.. with an indoor insect spray later or another bomb.

I have heard that spiders like NONE of the following: according to the DIY channel, coconut oil and vinegar; 40 Mule Team Borax around the foundation; chestnuts; lemon Pledge; any perfume or cologne (spiders are extremely sensitive to smell and shy away from overpowering scents...I am in the process of trying all these ideas myself so I can't swear to any of them, but I am willing to try as I have the same problem--spider overload...I tried the "turn loose a pair of geckos and you will never see them or the spiders again" but that didn't work (somehow they got out?) so I can't swear that idea works either...but if you do discover something that actually does work, let me know, and if I find something, I will let you know!

There is a clothing insect spray called SLA that will work. Clean the room, vaccuum, and then spray around the edge of the room, around all the window sills, and any area you have had webs.
Leave the room while it drys.
Some years we get a big spider influx in the spring or fall, and this always gets rid of them.
