No one knows, but some people think it is uchiha obito. Tobi is the newest member of akatsuki that replaced Sasori. He apparently is weak compared to Deidara.

Tobi is a mysterious individual, Tobi is an associate of Zetsu. Tobi appears clumsy and is very polite in his speech.After Sasori was killed in battle, Tobi was eager to replace Sasori as a new member of Akatsuki. Tobi is very eager to please Zetsu, however he maintains a strained relationship with Akatsuki member Deidara. Eventually Akatsuki allowed Tobi to become a member, apparently taking over Sasori's spot. Tobi was then assigned to capture the Three-Tailed Turtle bijuu. With Deidara's help the duo managed to subdue the beast and tow it back to their base.


Who Tobi really is that alot of people are thinking its Uchiha Obito. Because speculation suggests "to-bi" may be the revived form of "o-bi-to," though this is in no way confirmed. The katakana breakdown reveals their names using most of the same characters simply reversed. Obito was last seen being crushed and covered by earth and rock in the Grass Country, and Tobi is seen in the company of Grass ninja Zetsu. The spiral pattern on the face also terminates where Obito's one remaining eye was located. Tobi's hair is also black and he wears orange on his facemask. Obito also wore a black and orange outfit.
I'm hoping its Obito, it'll make a nice little twist to the plot ;)

tobi is the newest member of akatsuki(and the stupid one) he's the weakest one by far and has a lazy attitude. he became part of the organization after sasori got killed by his granny and sakura... he found the ring that qualified him as a member... trust me, nobody in the organization likes him...heehee.at least not me.but some rumors say that it's uchiha obito and i seriously doubt that for many reasons that im not going to waste time typing

Tobi is the newest member of akatsuki group, after the death of sasori, tobi replaced sasori and become a new team mate of deidara. Tobi didnt have any face feature or you can no one have seen his face feature yet because his face is covered with twisted lines.Tobi is a bit lazy compare to Sasori and he always have verbal fight with Deidara.

I've heard of him but I'm not really sure. If you search MSN groups NMR they could probably tell you, seeing as they have all the Naruto manga chapters on their site.
