You should see a gynecologist about this. Your pills may be the problem. It maybe the dosage is wrong or it could be something physical. The only way to find out would be by checking with the doctor I mentioned.

Dont worry honey! I have had this happen to me more than a few times. More recently I bled very heavily for 9 weeks - (where do we get all the blood?) Sometimes I bled 10 pads in 1 day.
I was SO FREAKED !!!! I went 2 my Gynecologist & he recommended a D&C @ the hospital ( he did not seem that concerned & I trust him VERY much, which is a day surgery, (some of us call it a dusting @ cleaning) but the scientific name is dialation & cutterage). After this surgery u could bleed 4 up to 8 more weeks! The bonus is u could end up NOT having it 4 a couple of months! But maybe it is as simple as changing the pill u r on. (Is it new?)

When I was 40, my periods got longer and longer and heavier too. I had one that lasted 3 weeks and I bled very heavily. I would soak thru everything, continually had to change clothes. When I finally dragged myself to the doctor and tests and DNC and biopsy were done, I found out I had cervial cancer. I had a hysterectomy and have had no further problems. I wasn't on the pill at the time, but it sounds a lot like what you have been doing. I would see another doctor.

First, are you going to a regular primary physician? If you are, go to a gynecologist or an ob/gyn. Either way, go to one of them since that is their specialty. If you already go to one, find another one. Not all doctors are competent.

One should never have a period for 3 weeks, let alone be on the pill and have one for that long.

This happened to me when I was on the DEPO shot. In fact, I had my period for almost 2 months. I think it is probably from being on the type of pill you are on, talk to your doctor for a new kind.

I'm a guy, and even though i always disagree of, lady's posting such a personal Que. but i couldn't resist not answering. Are you sure you don't have internal bleeding? 2nd. from my life experience, do not always trust one doc. always rely on 2nd or 3d opinions. Some of these so called specialist caused me lot of pain and financial lost and i end up losing all my saving, condo, car($26000), you don't wanna know the end of it. So finally, the last specialist, cure me with an simple injection, pathetic! right? so, be careful and get other opinions.

If you are just starting out, everyone in my one class in HS said that they had their period for like 2 weeks at a time or more. And that it was normal. But if you've been on it longer than that....talk to your doctor again.

best of luck!!

i had that problem and it was the pill i was taking. as soon as i stopped taking it my period stopped. i also had a hard time after my daughter was born. my doctor gave me a pill called prometriem. (not sure on the spelling). if your doctor doesnt know how to make it stop i would find a new OBGYN.

switch to a different pill. exercise to make the flow lighter. other than that I really don't know what to say.....

I have horrible periods and thank god they only last a week. 3 weeks and I'd be killing someone. haha.

call a sexual health clinic or see a different doctor...yours doesn't seem to be doing much!

I think you should talk to a second doctor -- if you are on the pill this should help regulate your period not mess it up.
