I think it really depends on who you are. I gave birth to my son in my mother's living room. No drugs completely natural. I had a wonderful team of midwives and it was going to be a water birth but my baby got stuck so I had to get out of the water. I was in labor for ten hours before I started pushing. Shortly after that we realized he was stuck. It took five more hours but he finally came out. It was very painful, but it was worth it. Afterwards I felt like I was on top of the world! I believe this is the very best way to have a baby. If I had been in the hospital they would have forced me to get an unnecessary C-section. I myself was born at home and I will have every last one of my babies that way.

Hi Banana you know what the best best piece of advice i can give you is "don't go into the labour ward with any expectations of yourself". You will do it all naturally. I believe go for the natural birth if you can as you have less recovery time afterwards. Believe me you do not want a c-section if you can go naturally.
I had so many expectations of myself before i had my boy i wasn't going to have drugs no Epidural and it will all be over with 6 or so hours.
But after having to be induced, The Gas, Pethidine and an Epidural, and then 17.5 hours of labour i had to have an emergency c-section!!
I got a bit depressed afterwards because i had all these expectations of myself over something i had no control over.
So go natural if you can and cross the bridges as you go along.
I will take this to my next birth and i think i will be alot more relaxed
Good luck

The "best" way to give birth is in a way that makes you feel the most confident and comfortable. If you are scared, or not sure of what is going on, it's going to be harder to give birth.
You should make the best decision you can with the resources you have and know that as long as you are educated and prepared, you will likely make the "best" decision.
Don't just rely on what others tell you to do. Ask questions about procedures that you don't understand. You can refuse anything if it's not necessary for you or your baby.

The best way,Is the way that is the most comfortable for you.
Epidurals don't HAVE to be paralyzing,I got one That Wore off When I was pushing and I was able to walk shortly After Giving birth.
Just do whatever you feel comfortable,Talk it over with your doctor,But I do agree the most Comfortable way for you mind is in a hospital where you know if problems arise Things will get taken care of!
Good luck!

I went natural with both my kids, and I would say that is the optimal way to go for the health of the mother and the baby. The epidural can slow labor, and increases the risk for complications and c-sections. C-sections have a longer recovery time and leave you with a nasty scar.

With my first I got the epidural(paralyzing) and I could not walk for around 7 hours afterwards so, Natural is definitely the way to go, it scared the $hit out of me to not be able to walk and never again would I want that worry! 37 weeks pregnant and going all natural when I go to the hospitol!

my oppinion natural is best it might hurt until your baby comes out but once its out the pain is gone. and you recover alot faster than with a c section with the stiches and all. and the numbing bottum half makes it harder because the meds can make baby sleepy and it could make you not want to push. so for me natural is the best way. i just want it over and done with and be able to hold my baby and everything instead of being to sore due to some stupid stiches and feeling sick from the meds they give you to help ease the pain.

the best way to give birth is whatever works for you. I had an epidural but by the time I was pushing I could feel everything..which is what I wanted. However, this time I hope my epidural stays the whole way through...If I never feel that kind of pain again, that would be fine.

The best way to give birth is vaginally in a hospital.
Drugs are your choice. There is no "best way". Its the baby you should think about, not yourself.

Hi...i asked my dct the same things and she told me to be open because you never know what to expect and she said be open to pain meds.....I did not want to get an epidural but ended up doing so....so....i think everyone should just be open....see what happens when it happens....dont worry! I know its easier said than done...but its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be!!
