You need to learn to translate English to math. This works especially well with percent problems.

What = variable. Call it x.

percent = divide by 100

of = multiply

75 = obvious

is = equals

5 = obvious

So:
x/100 * 75 = 5

x/100 = 5/75

x = (5 * 100)/75 = 6.67%

This is how I learned this in middle school. (Is/of)=(%/100) so with your problem I would do (5/75)=(%/100) so cross multiply and divide and you get (500/75) which you can simply to (1/15) or 6 2/3 %.

you take the amount you have over the total (5/75) and you would multiply it by the correct percentage over 100% - in this case, since we don't know the correct percentage, you'd use the value of x (x/100).

Then you cross multiply, which is when you multiply the numerator of the first fraction with the denominator of the second fraction and vis versa.

5/75 * x/100

5*100 = x*75

then you solve this like any other equation

500=75x

500/75=x

6 2/3 = x

let say x percentage of 75 is 5
so 75*x/100 = 5
now cut common factor from right hand side
3x/4 = 5 ( common multiple of 75 and 100 is 25)
x = 20/3 (divide by 4/3 both side)
x = 6.67%

ok, lets c, percent over 100 equals is over of. x/100=5/75. cross multiply. 75x=500. divide both sides by 75 to isolate x. x=6.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666. basically, its about 6 and 2/3%

o i love this stuff....u do is/of = %/100

so what percent *OF* 75 *IS* 5...plug in the numbers..ur trying to figur out % of cours so u can call that "n"

5/75=n/100 is ur equation so simplify by cross multiplying
(5x100)=(75xn)

500=75n
now u hav to simplify this...to get the "n" alone u have to divide the 75 on both sides...(to get rid of a number u do the opposite...ur multiplying rite now so do the opposit and divide)

so now u have 500/75=n

so n=about 7
(use a calculator n u get a decimal...i dont kno if ur spose to round)

im in the math club at my high school...if u need any mor help u can email me

Change it into words:
What percet=Wp
of=x (multiply)
is= = (equals)

Wp x 75 = 5 ?

Then solve. You want 'Wp' by itself so you want to get rid of 75. Divide 75 by 75 and get 1. But what you do to one side, you have to do to the other. So divide 5 by 75.

Answer is 6.66666%

Got a calculator?? 5 divided by 75 will give the answer in terms of a decimal. Move the decimal two places to the right to express it in terms of a percent.

There are a pair of procedures to locate this. a million) multiply .05 x seventy 5 to alter from 5% to a form you need to use, circulate the decimal to the left 2 places. 2) or you may write a proportion. 5/one hundred = x/seventy 5 to sparkling up, circulate multiply. 100x = 375. Then divide by using one hundred. x = 3.seventy 5
