There are plenty of resources to fund the necessary research.
They greatest hindrance to curing cancer and every other medical condition is a scientifically illiterate anti-evolution population.
Whoever the groups are that make any major breakthroughs, they will be attacking the problem within the framework of the theory of evolution.
If you want cures for illness, then make sure we train real scientists in real science classrooms. We should not have to deal with shamans and voodoo nerds in addition to all the math and real science that needs to be learned.
