I already own a full body thermal layer (O'Neill Thermo-X). What kind of wetsuit should I get on top of that?

It really depends on the water temp and the depth to which you will be freediving. Keep in mind that neoprene compresses with depth due to the pressure. Total time in the water and time of year also plays a factor.
Basically for temps it works out like this above 68 oF a 3 mm should be fine
Between about 52- 68 oF 5mm and below 52 oF 7mm or heavier such as a 2 piece 7mm which maybe impractical for free diving.
If you are going deep or staying in the water for long periods, in excess of an hour you may want to go to the next size up or a combination size i.e.above 68oF to depths of 60ft for a couple of hrs swim time try a 5-3mm which is 5mm on the torso for core protection and 3mm on the limbs for ease of motion.
You may also want to consider getting a wetsuit with a hood to help prevent heat loss. Remember you will have to know the bouyancy of any suit you are wearing to offset it with weights.

Hope this helps and good luck on your dives.
