Not only do I think it is bad for HER emotional health, but what about all the SICK FREAKS that will see it and get turned on... I am personally disgusted with Hollywood- this is WAY out of line. Her mother is apparently O.K with it too... SAD to say the least. What do ya'll think?

IT IS a big deal. Money makes it a big deal. I hope for the girl she has an excellent support system. I personally would not allow it if she were my child- body suit or not. Physical things heal, emotional ones don't.

If her mother didn't think she could handle it, i don't think she would let her take the part. I agree and don't think there's any need for a part like that in a movie, where the person getting rapped has to be played by a child (or can only be played by a child). I can see your point about the sick "o's" god forbid lets hope freaks don't get the wrong idea, but you know Hollywood gossip shows will be all the movie....The insider and Extar ect.

I really don't understand the controversy over this...she is an actress who is playing a role, like Brooke Shields did many years ago in "Pretty Baby"....from what CNBC reports, the scene doesn't show anything but her telling her rapist to stop, and you have to admit that she is far more mature for her age than most actresses her age, and her parents are so careful as to what she does, that I find it hard to believe that it is as bad as the media is saying....she didn't have to take the role, so there is no reason to blame Hollywood...with all the crap and violence seen in movies these days, I think the problem with this movie is that sweet little Dakota Fanning would be in such a movie....think we have to see it before it is judged.....

I think it depends on the context of the film. I haven't seen 'Hound Dogs' but I did see 'Bastard Out of Carolina.' This little girl was physically and emotionally abused for years by her stepfather, but her mother did nothing about it. At the end, he raped the little girl and the mother hit him over the head with a skillet, but ended up taking him back later. It's disturbing, but brought up a very good point: how many mothers in this world put their children at risk for 'love'? That little girl grew up to play Susan Surandon's daughter in 'Stepmom' and generally stays out of the Hollywood limelight. I think there must have been a great amount of emotional support for her during and after that first movie.

While I agree that they really should have rethought filming this scene, at the same time Dakota Fanning is a professional actor. She understands that it's part of the job, and both she and her mother obviously gave their consent. Personally, I wouldn't have let my child do this, but I'm not going to criticize the Fannings for their decision, either.

i think you need to back off Dakota Fanning. she had her mother there, she was wearing a body suit, it was made sure she couldnt get harmed or embarassed in any way. the only part of her body that touched the guy is the shoulder, and that's it. GOSH, quit making such a big deal outta this, i'm sick of hearing complaints. Dakota had the right to do the scene, she knew she'd do it because she agreed even after reading the script herself. STOP it with the complaints people. your making a big deal outta nothing

It is almost as bad as Brooke Shields part in "Pretty Baby". That was creepy too.

You are totally right. I think it is REALLY disgusting. She is too young and I really feel sorry for her because her parents are making her do this movie for an "Oscar" imagine that!
