Yes. Your freshman year grades are factored into your overall grade point average, something colleges look at. The also look at what classes you took and if you have any comments added to your transcripts. (Like being suspended for certain behaviors.)

Universities ask for your transcripts from wherever you went to high school or are transferring from. Basically, just to see your GPA. If you have community service, sports, a job, and how you did as a student. Of course your character is important. Your best bet is to be honest with the University and let them know what the problem was and how you have overcome it, faced the challenge, get letters of recommendation, and try to do some community work. People change, and hopefully if you have some- thing to explain your grades will help to soften the blow. Mistakes and poor choices can build a persons ability to recognize their faults and make them a better person for having gone through the bad times. You may have had to go through that to get where you are today and be the person you are now.

I actually work as an admissions representative at a college and yes we do look at your freshman through senior years and what your GPA is. While the school may have your GPA as one thing it may not actually be your GPA if that makes any sense.... for example if you took 3 years welding and received A's in all of those we don't use that in our formula. We calculate CORE classes (math, english, history, etc.) and then come up with your GPA but yes it does count your freshman year.
Hope this helps!

From what I understand, junior and senior year grades are more important than freshman year grades. Sometimes students who slacked freshman year become serious students later on in highschool-- however, this is no excuse to start slacking off! But, if a student shows genuine improvement as the years go on, some colleges will take note.

I have been told that they don't look at your freshman year, but I am still in high school so I haven't found out yet. I don't see what they can tell about a person from their freshman year because everyone is really immature and hasn't been informed about what they requirements for college/ university are at that point.

Colleges look at your Cumulative GPA which includes your freshmen grades. If those aren't so hot and your GPA is just average, they sometimes are interested to see that even though you did poorly in your first year of high school, as you matured you did better and your grades improved. Also get all of the community service hours and school club experience you can get starting in the 9th grade. Good Luck.

All of your education is taken into consideration. The fact that you bombed your school is on your permanent record. It's completely up to the college whether they want a person who could possibly knock down their campus buildings. This is just what came to mind, I'm not here to judge you because I don't know your story.

Yes, but...
Most admissions offices have a concept of 'trending' or something like that. Basically, if your GPA has been going up as you've been going through high school, you're a much better candidate than someone whose GPA has been stagnant or going down.
So, yes, but junior/senior grades/conduct will likely count much more. A lot of us were punks with low grades in ninth grade.

yes, they probably will check all 4 years of high school. However, if you did bad that year but did well for the next 3 years, I think you'll be fine. and they also look at your over all GPA for all 4 years and will look at your SAT scores too.

it depends on the school that youa re applying to. most schools don't look at it because they consider freshman year as a transition year.
