Where the hell is Kankakee cty?
Nationwide its about $10,000 with a dr. and hospital and about 4 -5,000 with a midwife at home....usually Health insurance will cover the entire thing - all prenatal visits...delivery, hospital stay and post partum visit.

I don't live in your county, so I can't speak specifically to that. But I gave birth 9 weeks ago in Idaho, and I had a c-section, and here's how it broke down:

Doctors visits and delivery--$3713.00
Assisting physician at c-section--1937.00
ultrasounds (2 limited, 1 thorough)--$1300.00
tubal ligation--$309.00
epidural--$1200.00
hospital room and board--$1350.00 (2 days)
operating room--$2100.00
other hospital charges (meds, labs, etc.)--$3100.00
baby's hospital charges--$1167.00
pediatrician visits to hospital--$300.00
misc urine tests, blood tests, glucose tests--$400

if you didn't have the c-section it would cost you thousands less, and there are things I know I've left out, but our total bills are about $18000.00, our insurance negotiated some discounts and covered 70%, we still ended up with about $4000.00 out of pocket.
