VB6 is eventually going to die. There will still be work in maintaining legacy VB6 apps, but new programs written has already dwindled significantly and will continue to decline. If you want a strong future in programming, keep your skills in VB6 but migrate to .NET. It has exploded in use and will continue to grow (look on Monster.com - there's at least twenty times as many positions for .NET as for VB6).

It will never hurt to have another language under your belt just in case the opportunity comes along, so having what you've learned with VB6 is a great thing... make sure you practice it every now and then. But learning .NET will open up many new opportunities, and VB6... won't.

I know that it's sometimes difficult and frustrating to migrate to a new language. When I first tried to migrate from VB to .NET, I hated it for about 3 months. But then I started to understand why they made .NET the way it is, and it is far more powerful than traditional VB. The .NET framework opens up huge possibilities for programmers by letting you focus on solving your specific programming problems, and not wasting time reinventing the wheel.

Visual Studio includes everything such as Visual C++, Visual C#, etc. Stick with VB6 in my opinion, .net sucks.
