The life span of a hamster is about 12 to 18 months. So Assume that he is under 18 months old. And just to add...Rats make much better pets and live much longer and are very social and intelligent. Might want to consider that when your hamster dies.

you dont most of the time. you need to ask the people you got it from or store how old they believe it is. and im pretty sure thats all you can do.

think back to when you got it, if purchased at petstore, probably 2 mos then add to the time you've had it thats the age.
