Yes, many times. At first, the people were distant, especially in a small town. But, I spent time in the library, shops and every I could think of to go. Soon, they did warm up and we became friends. It seems like the smaller the town, the more they distrusted someone from the big city so it took a little time. It's no different than moving from one apartment to the next, really.

Yes, all of my life. The best thing to do is go to the city you are thinking of moving to's website and get all the info sent to your house about the city.. Chamber of Commerce is a great place.. Also read as much as you can about the city..meetup.com is a great place to meet people with like interest. Just go with an open mind, there is always some one you will be bound to click with and that is a great jumping off point.

Several times, even to a new country. As yes, I was able to make friends, sometimes were easier than others, but within a month or so I always start to get to know people. The best way to do that is to get involved in some activity you are interested in.

I've done it twice so far... Making good friends takes time, making acquaintances is pretty easy.
Just get involved - a church, an adult education class, a gym, the library, a coffee shop, anywhere you can meet people. Even online - a local website, your local craigslist. It's real easy to get depressed and stay home all the time in a new town... don't let that happen!!!

Yes and practically alone! Of course you will be able to make friends even you're a shy person, there's always an angel or two out there. But be careful also as there's an angel there's always the other one too!

Yes..I moved to Florida without knowing anyone, it was unnerving in the beginning but I eventually made friends with my neighbors and people at work, then I met other friends in many other places. It wasn't so bad to move away solo.

Yes. Me and my family moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Boise Idaho in 2001. I made friends pretty easily because we lived in an apartment. Big Cul-de-sac's work nicely too.
