Large Cap is for big water tower head peoples. Mid Cap is for youre regular heads and Small Cap is for pole head peoples.

Market capitalization, or "cap", is determined by multiplying the latest price per share times the number of shares. If that number is less than $1 billion, that is small cap. If it is between $1 billion and $5 billion, that is mid cap. Large cap, is obviously above that. The numbers are not carved in stone and they aren't the same thing as the government calls small or large business in terms of contract bidding and such. Essentially, it is a representative of a fair size differentiation--think standard deviation in statistics.
