Right now the nearest creature would be the cat... and he HATES when I do that (but of course I do it anyway).
If cats don't count, then I suspect the neighbor would be rather surprised... and seeing as his wife works nights, he'd probably get the wrong idea.

The closest person to me right now is an old man outside my window walking a large dog. The man might like the hug, but his dog might tear me apart.

There is no one nearest me...but I can go to another room and grab a ferret to hug, but they'd give me a bad look because I woke them up...(all 4 of'em...)
