Can somebody please tell me why???

Why is it that most Americans have this belief that all Canadians say eh? and aboot?

That dialect is only in the far eastern part of Canada, the rest of us speak clearly.

I've never gotten the chance to speak to a person from canada, and the most I've ever heard is stuff from south park (bad source -- forget I mentioned it), and I'm in physics class. there's this series of videos on electricity and magnetism that are produced out of canada, and usually the students and instructors slip in the "aboot" once in a while.

I most certainly don't assume that all speak like that. It's just that that's all I've ever heard of it. ...Which is kinda pathetic if you think about it.

I guess my excuse is that I live in Arizona, so I'm pretty far away from the US-Canada border.
