As long as you know you haven't downloaded something that went into this folder by accident, then it's safe. But why not do a disk cleanup, that will empty this and the recycle bin and a few other cleanup jobs all in one?!? Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and Disk Cleanup. Let it compress and find all this junk, then remove everything it finds. The computer will run much better. I do it weekly!

Well, yes and no. It's safe to delete everything in the c:/windows/temp folder as long as a program is not currently using it. If you are currently running a program in memory that relies on that temporary storage space, it is recommended that you do not delete everything in that folder, as you may cause problems with the program looking for that file. As long as you know what programs are running and you know that nothing in that folder is being in use, it should be okay to erase.

its best to always do this and also the windows temp internet files and then empty the recycle because if there is a virus lurking then you will get it pretty much off your system..

Yes...your supposed to, well your computer is, but sometimes it doesn't or it gets interrupted. If you try to delete a file in use, however...it will tell you that it can't delete it.

Yes, if this fills up it will slow down the computer. You should empty it out periodically, I do mine everyday.
