The male frog (which is an amphibian not a reptile) clasps the female from the back bringing its cloaca close to the female's. The female releases the eggs and the male fertilises them outside the female's body as they are released.

Birds and reptiles fertilise the eggs inside the female's body either using a cloaca or a type of penis.
